Here, you’ll do more than join something — you’ll add something.The Software Architecture team within the Vision Products Group is composed of architects and system software experts who are building the foundational technologies for a diverse set of revolutionary experiences, including FaceTime, Spatial Personas, Mac Virtual Display, Siri, and more. Our charter involves the entire product lifecycle, from initial hardware ideation through final release, with a focus on developing the frameworks that power some of our most beloved features.

Description

We are looking for a motivated individual to help build frameworks to enable a new class of networked services and applications that will define the future of connected experiences on our platforms. The ideal candidate should possess solid programming skills and demonstrate a strong interest in developing foundational frameworks and APIs. You will have the opportunity to apply and expand your knowledge of networking and systems programming while working alongside an experienced team to develop innovative approaches to multimedia streaming, distributed AI workloads, and computer vision based applications. We are seeking someone with networking expertise, in addition to interest or experience in at least one of the following fields: real-time media compression and transport, AIML, or distributed systems. In this role, you will contribute to building performant solutions while balancing system tradeoffs such as power consumption, latency, and computational efficiency, all while maintaining our high standards for privacy, security, and exceptional user experience. In addition to work on framework development, this role also offers the unique opportunity to prototype new services and applications, as well as deep collaboration with other teams throughout Apple.

Responsibilities
  • Architect, implement, and scale frameworks and daemons that enable devices to connect and work together in order to enable a range of new experiences
  • Leverage skills in networking, multimedia, AIML, and/or distributed computing to realize new cross device capabilities.
  • Contribute throughout the stack, from systems software layers up to the application
  • Demonstrate a high bar for code quality and attention to detail
  • Build projects from the ground up, define and manage scope, and experiment to determine and deliver the best technical solutions
  • Engage in architecture discussions, take ownership, articulate design choices, and deliver highly optimized code in performance-critical environments
  • Explore uncharted domains, champion new ideas, and build rapid prototypes that help influence the product and feature roadmap
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of developing software frameworks and APIs
  • Solid understanding of network programming
  • Knowledgable about network protocols and frameworks (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, QUIC)
  • Interest in multimedia, AIML, and/or distributed systems
  • Exposure to mobile device and embedded development
  • Knowledgable about system level programming concepts
  • Strong command of object-oriented programming (Swift / C++ preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with Gen AI coding tools. Demonstrated ability to use them for design, code generation, and debugging
  • BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in multimedia, AIML, or computer vision
  • Experience or interest in real-time media transport (e.g. WebRTC)
  • Experience or interest in AR/VR applications
  • Experience with iOS / macOS application development

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You’ll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments as well as relocation.
