Job summary

Northeastern School District is seeking a qualified swim instructor to teach swimming techniques, water safety, and stroke development to students of various levels. The role includes supervising swimmers, planning progressive lessons, and maintaining clean facilities.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of instructional experience and certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding. Additional swim-instruction certifications are highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience as a swim instructor with a proven teaching record.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding certifications completed.
  • Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, stroke mechanics and water safety.
  • Additional education/experience as approved by the school board.

Responsibilities

  • Teach swimming techniques, strokes, and water safety to students of varying levels.
  • Assist more experienced swimmers to improve skills.
  • Assess progress and tailor teaching plans accordingly.
  • Monitor students to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Enforce ground rules for each session.
  • Plan lessons considering student abilities and progression.
  • Identify and correct improper techniques.
  • Keep pool and locker rooms clean and safe.

Job description

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Teaching swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to students with varying swimming abilities.
  • Assisting more experienced swimmers to enhance their swimming abilities.
  • Assessing the progress of students and adjusting teaching programs accordingly.
  • Monitoring students to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Implementing ground rules for each swim session.
  • Planning swimming lessons that take into account students' abilities and progressive development.
  • Identifying incorrect swimming techniques and correcting students accordingly.
  • Ensuring that the swimming pool and locker rooms are kept clean.
Education And Experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a swim instructor, with a proven track record of successful teaching, preferred.
  • Certified in CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding; additional certifications in swim instruction are highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, stroke mechanics, and water safety protocols.
  • Other education/experience as accepted by the school board and administration
