Base pay range: $19.00/hr - $20.00/hr

About This Role

This role requires strong swimming skills. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Aquatics Specialist will provide administrative and program support, including customer service, lifeguarding, swim instruction, and more.

Your Responsibilities
  • Assist with scheduling, swim lesson administration, and member service
  • Model a commitment to equity and inclusion, creating a welcoming environment
  • Support programming by guarding, teaching swim lessons, and performing water quality tests
  • Maintain rescue readiness, enforce safety rules, and take corrective actions as needed
  • Provide safe and effective instruction for all levels
  • Participate actively in the organization, communicating effectively and making sound decisions
  • Build positive relationships within the Y community
  • Promote the Y’s mission and support philanthropy
  • Maintain accurate data records
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Candidate Requirements
  • 1-3 years’ aquatics experience; youth experience preferred
  • Strong swimming skills
  • Current certifications or ability to obtain YMCA certifications (Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, AED, Oxygen)
  • Ability to build relationships and include diverse individuals
  • Self-motivated with good decision-making and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and databases
  • Ability to communicate with non-English speakers; additional languages a plus
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, ability to travel
  • Clean background check and fingerprinting
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the job
Salary & Hours

$19.00 - $20.00/hour, depending on experience. Hours: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm.
