Under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager, the Aquatics Specialist provides excellent customer service to guests of the Aquatic Park. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial, attendance, and facility records. The Aquatics Specialist organizes key components of the Learn-To-Swim Program, manages Volunteen staff, coordinates special events, handles public relations, and oversees private party rentals. This role also supports the Aquatics Manager with daily park program development.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing excellent customer service by responding promptly to guest requests and needs.
- Conducting telephone, computer, and counter sales for programs and rentals.
- Preparing accurate receipts, deposits, and reports in a timely manner.
- Managing invoicing and payment collection for private programs.
- Creating and maintaining monthly contracts for private programs.
- Overseeing the organization, safety, and appearance of facility entrances, restrooms, and offices.
- Organizing and leading special event activities at the facility.
- Managing the schedule for Aquatic Programs.
- Developing promotional materials such as group presentations, flyers, news articles, exhibits, and displays.
- Substituting for the Gate Clerk during summer operations.
- Managing the Volunteen Program and Learn-To-Swim Instructor scheduling and paperwork.
- Handling seasonal duties including preparing employment packets and conducting annual budget research.
- Running departmental errands as needed.
- Administering emergency care when necessary.
- Providing Community and City Employee CPR training as required.
- Maintaining daily pool chemical readings and conducting safety inspections, making adjustments as needed.
- Responding to facility security and alarms when necessary.
- Inventorying and inspecting emergency equipment and office supplies, making purchases when needed.
- Performing other departmental duties as assigned.
- Communicating effectively and courteously with guests, vendors, customers, and staff via written, internet, and phone communication.
- Managing large crowds and noise levels effectively.
- Standing or sitting for extended periods in extreme temperatures.
- Working extended hours, including evenings and weekends, with flexible scheduling.
- Handling supplies or equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
Qualifications:
- Typing speed of 35 w.p.m., calculator operation, and knowledge of software applications (Word 2000, Excel).
- Willingness to learn Amelia and Corel applications, and water chemistry balancing skills.
- Ability to accurately handle money and compile detailed reports.
- Skill in writing and creating promotional materials.
- Experience in public speaking.
- Demonstrated leadership, sound judgment, and flexibility.
- Ability to make quick decisions to ensure pool safety.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record and passing a criminal background check.
- Preferred experience in aquatic facility operations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain CPR Instructor and CPO certifications within six months of employment.
