Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Supervises approximately 30-40 swim instructor employees and 3-4 swim instructor leads (students and part time staff).
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates swim instructor program staff.
  • Assist with monitoring work performance, documenting and addressing performance violations of job description, performance standards, and/or work rules as necessary.
  • Schedules staff, reviews and approves employee payroll.
  • Serves as a backup to the Assistant Director of aquatics for scheduling, training, and staff conduct for all aquatics staff (including lifeguards).
  • Plans, organizes and implements instructional swim program for youth and adults.
  • Tracks swim lessons progression for each student.
  • Supports planning of other aquatics related programming including lifeguard instruction and in-service days.
  • Submits requests for use of aquatic facilities.
  • Serves as backup to the Scheduling Coordinator when needed.
  • Oversees equipment inventory, maintenance and storage for instructional swim and aquatics safety and first aid equipment.
  • Supports ongoing maintenance of aquatics facilities including general and daily pool maintenance including chemical checks.
  • Assist the Risk & Policy Compliance Officer and/or Assistant Director of Aquatics with department and aquatic emergency training.
  • Instructs CPR/FA/AED certification classes for the department and aquatics staff, and Lifeguard certification classes.
  • Designs, revises and implements program policies and procedures including identifying and managing program safety risks, making risk-avoidance adjustments to current operations, and preparing and implementing action plans to decrease risk factors.
  • Assists with marketing and promoting aquatics.
  • Work closely with the Communications team to ensure programming is shared in various platforms and the Customer Service team to ensure programs are in the appropriate registration systems.
