Job summary

The Aquatics Director at YMCA of San Diego County oversees and provides leadership to the Aquatics Program at the McGrath Family YMCA, guiding development, administration, implementation and ongoing evaluation.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Recreation or related field, 3+ years supervisory experience, current CPO and CPR/AED/First Aid certifications, Lifeguard and Swim Lesson Instructor credentials, plus strong fiscal management and staff leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation or related field or equivalent experience in aquatics
  • 3+ years' aquatic supervisory experience
  • Current CPO certification within 60 days of employment
  • CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid for Public Safety Personnel, Lifeguard Certification, Swim Lesson Instructor Certification (YMCA or Red Cross)
  • Proven supervisory skills in hiring, training, evaluating and motivating staff and volunteers

Responsibilities

  • Manage all functions of the Aquatics Department including safety, pool mechanics, lifeguarding, swim lessons and swim team
  • Audit pool systems and equipment to ensure water quality meets state codes and local regulations
  • Develop and monitor Aquatics Department budgets and ensure year-end outcomes
  • Plan and conduct monthly staff meetings focused on safety, policies and customer service
  • Act as Manager-on-duty when necessary and maintain safe, clean facilities
