Job summary

City of Virginia Beach seeks an Aquatic Instructor for the Parks & Recreation department. The role will instruct participants in water polo skills, ensure a safe swimming environment, and provide customer service while enforcing rules. CPR/AED and ARC certifications are required.

Flexible scheduling includes early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays with training provided. Employment may require overtime and relocation to different park sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least sixteen (16) years old.
• Requires possession of a current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification to instruct preschool, adult, and American Red Cross aquatic programs; or must possess valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification to teach ARC Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED/O2.
• Must obtain American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED within 30 days of employment.
• Must satisfactorily complete a departmental skills test prior to employment.
