Job summary

YMCA of Greater Kansas City is seeking an Aquatics Group Exercise Instructor to lead water fitness classes for members of all ages and abilities. If you’re a group exercise or aqua aerobics instructor, join us to help members move stronger together.

You will maintain safety by following YMCA guidelines and keep certifications current, while engaging diverse participants in a supportive, community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Minimum one year teaching experience.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED within 30 days (training provided).
• Able to relate and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner.

Responsibilities

• Lead and teach high-quality water exercise classes for members and participants of all abilities and levels.
• Responsible for staying current with the center announcements and information.
• Maintain safety in all classes by following YMCA and national certification guidelines, and know the pool area and building emergency procedures thoroughly.
• Report injuries, accidents, unsafe conditions, needed repairs, or complaints to the appropriate staff immediately, following YMCA injury/accident reporting procedures.
• Keep current with knowledge of all areas of training and certifications.
• Maintain a safe and clean pool environment.
• Track water fitness participant numbers.
• Responsible for updating all certifications.
