Job summary

Mac​edonia Recreation Center seeks an Aquatics & Fitness Specialist to lead fitness operations on land and support water programs. You will supervise lifeguards, instructors, coaches, volunteers, and contractors while coordinating with the Recreation Manager - Aquatics to ensure high standards of safety and service.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation (or related field) with 3+ years of supervisory experience, plus First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation or related field required.
• At least 3 years of full-time supervisory experience in a similar role.
• Must hold First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
• Lifeguard Training certification required; WSI with 6 months of hire.
• Within 6 months, obtain WSI and either CPO or AFO.

Responsibilities

• Leads Fitness operations on land and assists Aquatics with water program operations.
• Supervises part-time lifeguards, swimming and fitness instructors, coaches, volunteers, and contracted staff.
• Works under Recreation Manager - Aquatics and adheres to center hours; evenings/weekends as required.
• Ensures safety and compliance with required certifications and training.

Job Title: Aquatics & Fitness Specialist
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Range: Grade 5

General Description of Work: Leads Fitness operations on land and assists the Recreation Manager - Aquatics with water program operations and personnel including part-time lifeguards, swimming and fitness instructors, coaches, volunteers, and contracted staff.

Supervision Received: Receives general supervision from the Recreation Manager - Aquatics
Schedule: Recreation Center hours of operation, or as directed by supervisor; evenings and weekends.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation or
related field and at least three (3) years of previous experience in a similar full-time
position including direct supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of
education and experience which provides the necessary skills and abilities to do the job.
Requires First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification, Lifeguard
Training certification. The following are required within 6 months of hire; Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification, and either Certified Pool
Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification.

Preferred Certifications:
Nationally recognized Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and/or group exercise certification, Lifeguard Training Instructor (LGI) and Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT) certification.
