YMCA of Columbus is seeking a Part-Time Aquatics Supervisor in Columbus, OH. You will supervise staff, maintain certification records, and coordinate class schedules and registrations to ensure a safe and engaging aquatic program for members.

Responsibilities include staff coaching, program development, and collaboration with branch leadership to grow community offerings, while maintaining high service standards and effective parent communication.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 21 years.
  • High school diploma and/or 2 years of related experience and/or training; Bachelor's preferred.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certifications within 60 days.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Think and act as a leader promoting youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
  • Ensure staff certifications are current and in-service standards met.
  • Update pool schedule monthly and monitor events.
  • Conduct CPR/AED/First Aid/Red Cross courses as needed.
  • Maintain inventory and suggest purchases.
  • Interact with parents, provide information and handle inquiries during lessons.
  • Enter classes in Daxko, assign students, manage wait lists, monitor registrations, and post schedules.
  • Track retention, promotions and total registrations; analyze fill rates and adjust offerings.
  • Develop strategies with branch leadership to grow programs and meet community needs.

Description
  • Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
  • Ensures records of all staff certifications are current and complete along with all in service standards being met.
  • Updating pool schedule monthly and monitors for upcoming events.
  • Conducts certification courses in both YMCA and American Red Cross courses.
  • Helps maintain inventory and recommends purchases.
  • Relates with parents of participants by: providing information/procedures around observing lessons; providing handouts and flyers; answering questions during the lessons; and ensuring program evaluations are completed.
  • Participates in emergency drills and procedures to the highest level that training and situation permits.
  • Program duties include: Entering classes into Daxko, assigning students to appropriate levels, eliminates wait lists, monitors registration, returns phone calls and emails promptly, and posts the schedule for members. Program development duties include: Track retention, promotions, and total registration for class. Analyze fill percentages and adjust next session offerings. Develops strategies with branch leadership to grow/build programs. Identifies program opportunities to meet community needs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Indirectly supervises 5-20 staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the association's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; developing, coaching, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • High school diploma and/or at least 2 years of related experience and/or training. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification must be obtained within the first 60 days
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
  • Highly self-motivated with demonstrated success in program development, project management, and coordinating volunteers.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) competencies needed, including the ability to speak in public, interact with and motivate volunteers, community leaders and staff, and write content for program materials.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain detailed, accurate records.
  • An ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment and engage equally in administrative and outreach duties.

With the supervision of the Aquatics leadership to ensure a safe and positive environment for all YMCA members and guests. This position ensures that staff are able to work in a well-organized and productive environment, programs are running efficiently, and that our Aquatics departments continue to meet the needs of the community.
