Job description

Thinks, communicates, and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members, promoting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.

Ensures records of all staff certifications are current and complete, with all in-service standards being met.

Updates the pool schedule monthly and monitors for upcoming events.

Conducts certification courses, including YMCA and American Red Cross courses.

Helps maintain inventory and recommends purchases.

Relates with parents of participants by providing information and procedures around observing lessons, distributing handouts and flyers, answering questions during lessons, and ensuring program evaluations are completed.

Participates in emergency drills and procedures to the highest level that training and situation permit.

Performs program duties such as entering classes into Daxko, assigning students to appropriate levels, eliminating wait lists, monitoring registration, responding promptly to phone calls and emails, and posting the schedule for members. Also, develops strategies with branch leadership to grow programs, tracks retention, promotions, and registration, analyzes fill percentages, and identifies community program opportunities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Indirectly supervises 5-20 staff members, carrying out responsibilities in accordance with the association's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, coaching, rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands include frequently sitting and talking or hearing; occasionally standing, walking, using hands, reaching; and occasionally lifting/moving up to 40 pounds. Vision abilities required include close and distance vision. The usual noise level is moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma and previous teaching experience.
• Certifications required include CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, and Lifeguarding.
• Within 6 months of hire, obtain YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor certification and American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification.
