The Ocean Community YMCA in beautiful Southern Rhode Island is looking for an Aquatics Director for our Westerly-Pawcatuck Branch.

Job Description

The Aquatics Director at Ocean Community YMCA oversees the operation of the Aquatics Department, including promoting and delivering quality programs, hiring and supervising staff, managing budgets, and maintaining a safe pool environment. The role also involves managing the Swim Team and associated parent organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with at least 3 years of experience in the aquatics field and supervision, or 7 years of relevant experience with increasing responsibilities. Excellent communication and public relations skills. Lifeguard and POOL certifications are required.

Essential Functions

• Develops and manages aquatic programs, ensuring safety and compliance with YMCA standards.
• Handles hiring, training, performance appraisal, and scheduling of staff, including supervising part-time employees and volunteers.
• Manages departmental budgets and assesses facility needs.
• Promotes aquatic programs to the community and maintains program areas.
• Ensures safety and cleanliness of the pool environment.
• Provides reports and participates in meetings.
• Maintains physical upkeep of the pool and deck.
• Maintains current CPR/AED, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, Lifeguard, and Lifeguard Instructor certifications.
• Supports the branch's annual support campaign and other events.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
