Job Summary

This role involves overseeing a busy community pool with various aquatic programs and services, including classes for community members, credit students, rental opportunities, lap swim, and private swim lessons. The position requires a strong focus on managing pool equipment and maintenance.

This is a part-time position with teaching and coordination hours totaling up to 29 hours per week. The pool operates over 70 hours weekly, and this role is one of three overseeing pool supervision. Supervision hours will be shared among staff, with evenings and weekends required. Classes are offered in Fall, Winter, and Spring/Summer, with pool shutdowns in between. During shutdowns, staff may work on planning and scheduling, but not necessarily the full 29 hours. Hours are preset each semester.

Job Duties

The responsibilities of the on-call Aquatics Coordinator include:

  1. Recommending equipment orders and submitting maintenance work orders for pool repairs.
  2. Ensuring pool repairs are completed and collaborating with facilities for future maintenance planning.
  3. Inventories and organizes equipment.
  4. Maintains class certificates and updates them as needed.
  5. Monitoring the professionalism of lifeguards and instructors.
  6. Updating the pool chart and web schedule.
  7. Addressing student concerns and directing them to PPL when necessary.
  8. Assisting in the first two weeks of classes to address student needs.
  9. Acting as a substitute lifeguard or instructor when needed.
  10. Assisting with training new lifeguards and instructors.
  11. Performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Must have a current lifeguard certification (Red Cross preferred).

Must obtain an LGI Certification within the first year of employment.

Must have experience working in a busy pool setting.
