Job description

The Lakewood-Trumbull Y Outdoor Center is looking for a dedicated Aquatics Coordinator to oversee and support the aquatic programs at our outdoor facility. This role is responsible for managing swim lessons, aquatic rentals, certification courses, special events, and lifeguard supervision while ensuring a safe and fun environment for all participants.

As an Aquatics Coordinator, you will help train and supervise staff, maintain pool safety standards, and enhance the overall aquatic experience for campers, families, and community members. This position requires strong leadership, organization, and communication skills, as well as a passion for outdoor aquatic programs.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least two years of aquatics supervision experience.
  • Must hold and maintain a Lifeguard and/or Swim Instructor certification (YMCA, Red Cross, or equivalent).
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications required.
  • Experience with outdoor aquatic facilities, swim lessons, and water fitness programs preferred.
  • Familiarity with pool maintenance, safety regulations, and risk management.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, stay calm under pressure, and respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Emergency Oxygen Administration certification preferred.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or YMCA POOL Certification preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and outdoor seasonal operations.
