GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the appropriate Director, the Aquatic Coordinator will assist with the leadership, management, and supervision of the Aquatics Department and staff to provide the highest quality programming within a safe environment. A 40-hour work week will be necessary to accomplish the assigned responsibilities.
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Minimum age of 21
- Must have 1 year of experience supervising staff
- Relevant experience in aquatics and college degree preferred
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Must be able to frequently perform the following physical activities: swim, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for extended periods, walk, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and communicate verbally
- Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors and be exposed to weather conditions
- Must maintain lifeguard certification and be physically and mentally prepared
- Must be able to visually monitor all sections of an assigned zone or area
- Must be able to hear noises and distinguish distress signals
- Must remain alert and maintain concentration for long periods to ensure safety
- Must make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment
- Must show initiative in the absence of supervision
- Must relate well to diverse groups and work professionally
- Must handle questions and resolve conflicts courteously
- Must maintain a neat and professional appearance

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain all lifeguard skills as required
- Provide excellent customer service to staff, participants, members, volunteers, and the public
- Assist in training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating staff and volunteers
- Develop and enforce departmental policies
- Keep accurate records of aquatic participation
- Regularly evaluate service quality and implement improvements
- Familiarize with all risk management procedures and policies
- Develop and enforce department policies
- Be visible to staff and members during duty hours
- Support membership and program operations through effective communication
- Maintain inventory and ensure all equipment is properly maintained and reported if irregularities occur
- Keep the aquatic area clean, orderly, and safe
- Follow risk management guidelines and emergency procedures
- Report facility or equipment concerns
- Enforce all program rules and policies
- Attend training sessions and meetings
- Manage scheduled hours, arrange substitutes, and notify supervisors in advance
- Foster positive relationships with members, participants, and staff
- Support fundraising efforts like the Strong Community Campaign
- Perform other duties as assigned
