Job summary

YMCA of Superior California is seeking an Aquatics Coordinator in Sacramento to oversee swim lesson programming and instructor staff. The role includes scheduling, training, and ensuring safety and quality across Sac Central and Capital YMCA facilities.

The position emphasizes coordination, communication with branch leadership, and adherence to YMCA aquatics standards, with 20–25 hours weekly on a Wed-Sat timetable.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Three years’ prior experience in aquatics teaching children and adults.
• Two years’ prior experience in supervision.
• Current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications required.
• Current Lifeguard certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Current Certified Pool Operator or YMCA Pool Operator on Location certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Onboards, trains, and supervises Lead Swim Instructor and Swim Instructor staff at Sac Central and Capital YMCA.
• Ensures implementation of YMCA swim lessons curriculum.
• Oversee the implementation of all swim lessons.
• Schedules Swim Lessons staff on scheduling platform.
• Leads and participates in teaching swim lessons.
• Respond to parent and participant concerns and questions in a timely manner.
• Works with Aquatics Director and Pool Manager on risk management protocols.
