Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Rehab Therapy Tech III Lifeguard at Mexia State Supported Living Center. This role supports aquatic therapy and safety, assisting therapists and supervising swimming activities.

Requires Lifeguard certification, CPR/First Aid, and a Texas driver’s license; candidates with six months of related experience encouraged. The position may require weekend hours and occasional overtime.

Qualifications

• Requires current Lifeguard certification, or the ability to obtain it within 2 months of hire.
• Valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date.
• Out-of-state driver’s license requires driving record submission.
• At least six months of work experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, therapeutic work, or lifeguard duties.
• Preferred: High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Experience in applied behavior analysis, sensory integration, or related therapies.

Responsibilities

• Attends work regularly and may work rotating shifts, extended hours, or overtime as needed.
• Ensures swimmer safety, enforces pool rules, and provides first aid/CPR when required.
• Inspects pool safety equipment and maintains a clean, safe facility.
• Assists in development and implementation of aquatic therapy and other treatment plans.
• Trains Direct Support Professionals to ensure continuity of treatment objectives.
