Job summary

Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, CT seeks an Aquatic Rehab Center Personal Trainer to provide fitness center orientation, individualized and group training, and fitness assessments for Aquatic Rehabilitation Center members.

The role requires a B.S. in relevant field, a national Personal Trainer Certification, CPR/AED, and ideally one year of experience with clients who have special health needs. This is a part-time, first-shift position with 10 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• B.S. in physical education, exercise science, exercise physiology, or athletic training is required.
• Personal Trainer Certification (ACSM/ACE/NSCA) required.
• CPR Certification with AED required.

Responsibilities

• The Aquatic Rehab Center Personal Trainer is responsible for providing fitness center orientation, individualized and group personal training services and fitness assessments to Aquatic Rehabilitation Center members.
• Designs, develops and implements appropriate aquatic and land exercise programs for fitness center clientele.
• Screens individuals for safety of participation; including monitoring blood pressure, oxygen saturation levels, and heart rate.
• Administers health risk and fitness assessment tools. Interprets assessment results to develop safe, effective fitness programs.
• Provides orientation to fitness center equipment.
• Participates in equipment management, set up, use, care, storage, and maintenance.
• Participates in development of new programs, program schedules, and client education materials.

Education

B.S. in physical education, exercise science, exercise physiology, or athletic training

Personal Trainer Certification: ACSM, ACE, NSCA

CPR Certification including Automated External Defibrillation (AED)
