Job summary

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is seeking an experienced Animal Life Support Systems Operator to join our Facilities Maintenance Team. You will maintain aquatic life support systems, monitor water quality, and support animal care during medical procedures and moves.

The role requires flexibility for weekend shifts, the ability to work in wet and confined spaces, and strict adherence to safety standards and Six Flags procedures.

Qualifications

• Availability to work varied shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Ability to perform math equations using geometry and algebra.
• Knowledge of maintaining closed loop filtration systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate vehicles.
• Must be able to work with chemicals and follow MSDS.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and participate in daily inspection and operation of all LSS equipment including pumps, filtration systems, ozone generators, UV systems, chemical dosing, and control/automation platforms.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance of LSS equipment (backwashing filters, cleaning protein skimmers, rinsing mixing basins, cleaning venturis).
• Monitor water quality parameters (temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, ORP, pH, nitrogen cycle) and coordinate corrective actions as needed.
• Add chemicals to life support systems as required.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs of LSS equipment (mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
• Maintain communication with Supervisors and other disciplines within departments.
• Assist Animal Care Team during aquatic animal medical procedures, moves, transports, and care as needed.
