Job summary

NC State University is seeking a Temporary Aquatic Field Technician in Kings Mountain, NC to lead fieldfish sampling, identify species using a dichotomous key, and collect stream habitat data for a project evaluating the impacts of dam removal on freshwater fish.

Work schedule is 9am-5pm with flexibility and occasional weekend work; experience in fieldwork and comfort with large waterbodies is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s level training in biology, environmental science, hydrology, natural resources, or related field.
• Experience conducting field-work in environmental discipline through previous positions or coursework
• Comfortable working on large waterbodies (rivers, lakes, reservoirs)

Responsibilities

• Lead fieldfish sampling, use dichotomous key to identify fish, collect stream habitat data for project evaluating impacts of dam removal on freshwater fish and stream habitat.
• Work Schedule 9am-5pm (flexible, may require some weekend work); may require longer consecutive hours over fewer days of week when conducting field work
