Job summary

City of Bloomfield Aquatic Center is seeking a Pool Shift Supervisor/Lifeguard to supervise pool operations and lead lifeguard staff. You will enforce safety rules, respond to emergencies, and help maintain a welcoming pool environment for families.

The role requires 18+ with lifeguard, CPR, First Aid certifications or ability to obtain them, and a readiness to work a seasonal schedule 20–30 hours weekly, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications required (or ability to obtain before employment).
• Must be at least 18 years old; high school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
• Ability to swim, stand, walk and stay active for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pool operations during assigned shifts.
• Lead and support lifeguard staff.
• Enforce pool rules and maintain vigilance to keep swimmers safe.
• Respond to emergencies and provide first aid as needed.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures.
• Support pool parties and special events.

Do you love being around people, staying active, and making a difference in your community? The City of Bloomfield Aquatic Center is looking for an enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic team member to join our aquatics team as a Pool Shift Supervisor / Lifeguard!

This is more than just a lifeguarding job. You'll help create a safe, fun, and welcoming environment where families make memories and kids build confidence in the water.

Pay

• $15.50/hour - No lifeguard experience required
• $16.50/hour - Experienced Lifeguards
• 20-30 hours per week - seasonal
• Flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends

What You'll Do

• Supervise pool operations during assigned shifts
• Lead and support lifeguard staff
• Keep swimmers safe by enforcing pool rules and maintaining vigilance
• Respond to emergencies and provide first aid if needed
• Assist with facility opening and closing procedures
• Support pool parties and special events
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming aquatic facility
• Be a positive role model for guests and fellow team members
