Job summary

SHAC SFM, LLC is seeking an Aquatics Aerobics Instructor for the Shafter Aquatics Center in Shafter, CA. The part-time role focuses on leading water aerobics classes, ensuring safety, and adapting sessions for varied ages and abilities.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of aquatic teaching experience, strong swimming skills, CPR/First Aid, and a passion for athlete development within a community-focused facility.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of teaching aquatics programs.
• Strong swimming ability and knowledge of different swimming techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills.
• Must be a team player.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule, predominately after-school and weekends.
• Current CPR/FIRST AID certifications, or willingness to obtain within a specified period.
• Currently or willing to become Red Cross certified.
• Currently Certified as a Water Aerobics Instructor.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Passion for sports and athlete development.

Responsibilities

• Teaching relevant skills, tactics, and techniques to a wide range of athletes, individuals, and groups
• Modify exercises to accommodate different skill levels, injuries, and physical limitations
• Monitoring, evaluating, and enhancing participant performance and needs
• Providing suitable feedback via positivity, encouragement, example, and motivation
• Demonstrating an activity clearly by breaking down the task or technique into a sequence
• Friendly and courteous with participants and team members
• Ensuring a safe environment for all participants to avoid accidents or injuries
• Implementing the lesson plans in an accurate, creative, positive, and efficient fashion
• Ensure proper use and care of pool equipment and teaching aids
• Report any maintenance or safety issues to management
• All additional duties assigned by management
