SUMMARY
This position will work with the Aquatic Manager to coordinate and lead engaging, safe, and enjoyable Aqua Zumba classes for adults of varying fitness levels and abilities. Must be dependable, energetic, and passionate about creating a positive fitness experience for participants, as well as comfortable leading groups, motivating participants, demonstrating movements, and adapting instruction to meet the needs of a diverse class.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience leading group fitness or aquatic fitness classes required.
- Previous experience teaching Aqua Zumba preferred.
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledgeof related City ordinances that affect the Parks and Recreation Department
- Knowledge of current codes and practices established by State, County, and National aquatic certification agencies
- Knowledge of proper care and use of aquatics equipment, materials, and supplies
- Knowledge of organization and operation of the aquatics facility, including maintenance and safety requirements
- Knowledge of Parks and Recreation Department rules and policies
- Knowledge of swimming lessons, levels, skill progression and lesson plans
- Knowledge in creating and following a department budget

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plan and lead safe, energetic, and engaging Aqua Zumba classes.
- Provide clear demonstrations and verbal instruction for exercises, movements, and choreography.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive, and positive environment for participants.
- Incorporate music, movement, and dance-inspired exercise to provide an enjoyable and effective water-based workout.
- Modify movements and exercises as appropriate to accommodate varying fitness levels and abilities.
- Maintain awareness of participants throughout class and promote safe exercise practices.
- Encourage and motivate participants throughout each class.
- Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled classes.
- Maintain a professional and positive relationship with participants and Saline Rec Center staff.
- Communicate participant concerns, class needs, or scheduling issues to the Aquatic Manager.
- Follow all Saline Rec Center, Parks & Recreation, and aquatic facility policies and procedures.
- Maintain all required certifications and complete required training.

Summary
The Saline Rec Center is seeking an additional enthusiastic and energetic Aqua Zumba Instructor to join our aquatic fitness team. The instructor will lead engaging, safe, and enjoyable Aqua Zumba classes for adults of varying fitness levels and abilities.
The ideal candidate is personable, dependable, energetic, and passionate about creating a positive fitness experience for participants. The instructor should be comfortable leading groups, motivating participants, demonstrating movements, and adapting instruction to meet the needs of a diverse class.
Work Schedule
This is a part-time contract position. The instructor will lead scheduled Aqua Zumba classes based on program needs and instructor availability.
Class schedules may include mornings, evenings, and/or weekends.
Compensation is based on qualifications and experience.
