Job summary

Power Wellness at Crosby Wellness Center is seeking an Aqua Instructor to teach aquatic classes professionally and safely for members and guests. The role emphasizes accessibility, safety, and enjoyable sessions within a medically integrated fitness environment.

The instructor must have CPR/AED within 90 days, at least 2 years of group-class experience, and current certifications (preferably NCCA-accredited). Flexibility with center hours and dependable attendance are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in group class instruction.
• CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of hire (provided by Power Wellness)
• Group exercise instructor certification preferred (NCCA accredited preferred).
• Certification for some specialty group exercise class instruction is required.
• Excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and maintain a professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Teach classes as scheduled with modifications for varying fitness levels.
• Maintain safety guidelines and certifications.
• Ensure proper setup and cleanup and punctual class start/end.
• Demonstrate accountability by avoiding missed classes and arranging substitutes.
• Provide a fun and engaging experience for participants.
• Be flexible with center hours and work schedules.
• Meet all safety requirements and communicate effectively with EMS.

The Aqua Instructor is responsible for teaching aquatic exercise classes in a professional and safe manner to the members and guests of the center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach classes as scheduled, providing modifications to accommodate varying fitness levels.
• Teach within standard guidelines of specialty certifications.
• Understand contraindicated exercises providing a safe and effective approach to exercise.
• Maintain industry certification in good standing and meet continuing education requirements.
• Ensure arrival time allows for proper set up so that class begins on time, ends on time and that area is cleaned up after class.
• Demonstrate accountability to schedule by avoiding missed classes and seek substitute instructors in advance.
• Provide a fun and engaging experience for the participants.
• The ability to be flexible and accommodating as it relates to center hours and work schedules.
• Must meet all safety requirements and certifications necessary to perform job duties.
• Demonstrate complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures and confidence communicating with EMS.
