Job summary

The JCC of Staten Island is seeking an energetic Aqua Instructor to join our aquatics team. Plan, lead, and supervise water fitness classes for participants of varying ages and abilities, while prioritizing safety, motivation, and a welcoming atmosphere.

You will design class plans, modify exercises as needed, manage equipment, and collaborate with lifeguards and aquatics staff to deliver engaging, safe workouts that help participants improve fitness and confidence in a supportive community.

Qualifications

• Current recognized aquatic fitness instructor certification.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Experience teaching water aerobics or aqua fitness.
• Ability to modify exercises for varying fitness levels.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead aquatic exercise classes for participants of varying ages and abilities.
• Prioritize participant safety and supervision during sessions.
• Provide clear instructions and demonstrations; offer modifications as needed.
• Maintain an engaging, well-structured class with safe transitions between activities.
• Collaborate with lifeguards and aquatics staff; ensure equipment readiness and safety procedures.
