Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer to uphold high-quality standards across the supplier base for APU and TF33 programs. You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and global supply chain to drive conformance and continuous improvement.

You will lead root-cause analyses (8D), manage PPAP and QMS processes, and support recalls and containment activities while ensuring compliance with AS9100 and company expectations. Willingness to travel is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years in engineering, manufacturing, or quality.
  • AS9100 knowledge and experience in quality systems.
  • Proficient with SAP and enterprise databases; willing to travel.

The Engine Center Supplier Quality team is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to support our Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) and TF33 programs. The successful candidate will play a key role in upholding high-quality standards across our supply base to ensure all products and materials meet safety, regulatory, and performance requirements. This position requires strong collaboration with suppliers, internal cross-functional teams, and key stakeholders to drive continuous improvement, resolve issues, and maintain compliance with industry standards and company expectations.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers to ensure understanding and adherence to quality requirements, specifications, and QMS expectations.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, manufacturing, global supply chain, and procurement to address supplier quality constraints and ensure product conformance.
  • Train, support, and approve suppliers in meeting self‑release and DQR requirements.
  • Support process improvement initiatives for quality processes across both internal (PWA) and supplier activities using CORE tools and methodologies.
  • Lead and support Product Recall activities, including root cause analysis (8D)/investigations, corrective actions, and escape management to resolve and prevent quality issues.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor supplier quality improvement plans and performance metrics, including quality, and responsiveness.
  • Apply, maintain, and improve quality control systems, protocols, and process control documentation to ensure compliance with requirements, objectives, and contract obligations.
  • Identify and manage risk using PPAP core elements (e.g., PPAP, APQP, Control Plans, FMEA, SPC, KPC, MSA) and recommend risk‑mitigation strategies.
  • Promote a strong quality culture through adherence to the QMS and Quality Cardinal Rules.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing operations, quality, or a closely related industrial environment; or a master’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, including company and regulatory requirements (AS9100).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP, and enterprise database systems.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to suppliers and other company locations.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with root cause analysis, process control tools, and CORE methodologies.
  • JCL2 certified or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Strong presentation, project management, and decision‑making capabilities.
  • Proven ability to interface with management, and suppliers.
