Job summary

State of Washington’s Department of Social and Health Services seeks an Adult Protective Services Supervisor (Social Service Specialist 5) in Federal Way. You will lead a team of Social Service Specialists, oversee investigations of abuse and neglect, and ensure compliance with RCW 74.34 and WACs while coordinating with law enforcement and tribal partners.

You will hire, coach, and develop staff, review casework for quality, and prepare reports to monitor trends and workload in a mission-driven

Qualifications

  • Paid social service experience must include assessing risk and safety.
  • Master’s degree can substitute for one year of experience.
  • Combination of education and paid experience totaling at least nine years.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a unit of Social Service Specialist staff, set expectations and manage hiring/training/evaluation.
  • Lead unit operations with regular meetings and equitable workload distribution.
  • Provide policy guidance and staff development; ensure compliance with laws and procedures.
  • Review investigations and case documentation for quality and accuracy; approve cases.
  • Prepare and analyze reports to monitor trends and workload.
  • Communicate updates and program changes to staff; coordinate with partners and agencies.
  • Serve as mandatory reporter; participate in staffings and provide testimony as needed.
