Job Title

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) – Full Time

Location: Coastal Health, Clay County, Florida (Coastal Health Corporate – Orange Park, FL 32073)

About the Role

Coastal Health is seeking a dedicated and motivated Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our outpatient care team in the Clay County area. This position offers the opportunity to provide high‑quality patient care in a collaborative clinical environment under the supervision of physicians and surgeons.

Position Summary

The APRN will provide comprehensive patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow‑up. This role involves working closely with physicians while maintaining autonomy within the scope of advanced nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assess patient health status
  • Diagnose medical conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and administer treatments
  • Collaborate with physicians on complex cases and refer patients as needed
  • Monitor patient progress and ensure continuity of care
  • Triage patient calls and respond to clinical concerns in a timely manner
  • Provide emergency care, including CPR, when necessary
  • Educate patients and families on preventive care and treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records
  • Contribute to data collection and reporting for clinical or research purposes as needed
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (MSN required)
  • Current Florida Registered Nurse license (or eligibility)
  • Certification (or eligibility) as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) / advanced registered nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in an outpatient clinical setting (preferably 3+ years)
  • Current CPR certification
Other Requirements
  • Current state registered nurse license
  • Current state license as an advanced registered nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority
  • Current CPR certification

Knowledge:

  • Advanced practice nursing, including medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and therapeutics
  • Professional nursing theory, practices, regulations, and ethics related to patient care
  • Medical equipment and instruments used to administer patient care
  • Safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment
  • Health promotion, risk identification, and patient education principles
  • Community, professional, and educational resources
  • Practice management systems including electronic health record systems (EHRs)

Skills:

  • Oral and written communication; interviewing for medical histories; providing presentations and consultations
  • Case management, time management, problem solving, crisis intervention, multitasking
  • Adapting professional nursing methods and initiating appropriate emergency response procedures
  • Using Microsoft Office and practice management software

  • Analyze complex data and draw conclusions
  • Interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, clinical staff, and the public

Work Environment

Combination of exam rooms and medical offices; frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Physical Requirements

Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform tasks such as standing and walking for extensive periods, lifting and carrying items up to 10 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.; requires normal vision and hearing; ability to work under stress in emergency situations; occasional irregular working hours.
