Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) – Full-Time
Location: Coastal Health Primary Care Fleming Island
Coastal Health is seeking a full-time, motivated Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our outpatient care team. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide high-quality care in a supportive and professional environment.
As an APRN at Coastal Health, you will practice medicine under the guidance and supervision of physicians and surgeons. Responsibilities include examining patients, diagnosing diseases, determining treatment plans, and prescribing medications.
Conduct comprehensive physical exams and assess patients' health status.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
Prescribe medications and administer injections for pain management.
Provide ongoing care management and monitor therapy effectiveness.
Triage patient calls and evaluate clinical concerns.
Respond to emergencies, including administering CPR.
Educate patients and families on preventive health care.
Document patient care accurately in medical records.
Maintain departmental statistics for potential research purposes.
Collaborate and consult with physicians as needed, and refer patients when beyond APRN scope.
Education:
Master's degree from an accredited nursing school and nurse practitioner program.
Licensure/Certification:
Current Florida RN license (or eligibility) and certification (or eligibility) as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
Experience:
Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in an outpatient setting required.
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of the medical model and the roles of both physicians and nurse practitioners.
Familiarity with anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine, and diagnostic techniques.
Competency in medical documentation and confidentiality standards.
Skills:
Skilled in collecting and evaluating physiological, social, and emotional data.
Effective in managing patient concerns in-person and over the phone.
Proficient in developing and updating patient care plans.
Abilities:
Make sound clinical decisions within the nurse practitioner scope.
Collaborate with physicians on complex medical cases.
Communicate health information clearly to patients, families, and staff.
Demonstrate strong motor coordination, dexterity, and full range of motion.

Education: MSN required. Successful completion of advanced practitioner training and certification as a practitioner (general or specialized) from an approved nurse practitioner program.
Experience: Minimum three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting, plus two years of nurse practitioner experience preferred.

Equipment Operated: Standard medical examination room equipment and instruments. Using computer/health information management system.
Work Environment: Combination of exam rooms and medical offices. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Nurse Practitioner such as standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 10 lbs., occasionally lifts or moves up to 100 lbs. Requires correct vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stress in emergency situations and occasionally may involve irregular working hours.
