SSI’s goal is to provide top-quality services related to Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). We install, start-up, repair, and offer on-site services including VFD optimization.

We are seeking a field service technician to work on VFDs in the commercial HVAC market. These drives control motor speeds on pumps and fans in large buildings such as hospitals, universities, schools, water treatment plants, and government offices. Technicians work with high voltages up to 480VDC and control voltages like 24VDC, requiring knowledge of electrical components and electricity.

Our service areas include Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Northern West Virginia, Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Southern Michigan. Most work is scheduled Monday through Friday, with occasional night and weekend shifts. Travel time is compensated, and mileage is reimbursed when using personal vehicles.

Responsibilities
  • Installing, starting up, troubleshooting, and servicing VFDs
  • Operating hand and power tools, wiring, conduit work, and using electronic measuring tools such as multi-meters, amp clamps, and harmonic analyzers
  • Traveling to client sites
Requirements
  • Prior VFD experience
  • Experience with VFDs in AHUs, pump applications, and cooling towers is a plus
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, circuitry, and schematics
  • Building Management Systems experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and work
Compensation

The estimated hourly pay range is $24 - $27. Actual salary depends on skills, qualifications, and experience. SSI provides equal employment opportunities and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
