Summary:

In a learning capacity, the Apprentice Technician assists the Service Technician with identifying necessary vehicle service and performing repair, service, and/or maintenance work. This entry-level position aims to increase knowledge, skills, and certifications to progress to a Service Technician role.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Assists Master/Service Technician or Team Leader with examining customer vehicles.
  • Assists with identifying necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Assists with estimating repair costs.
  • Performs vehicle repairs and maintenance under supervision.
  • Utilizes available technologies to improve customer experience.
  • Learns to perform services efficiently according to dealership guidelines.
  • Follows dealership and manufacturer service guidelines.
  • Requests necessary parts for repairs.
  • Maintains CSI at or above company standards.
  • Keeps work area organized, clean, and safe.
  • Participates in required training sessions.
  • Records hours worked accurately.
  • Follows safety rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrates company core values.
  • Complies with policies and procedures.
  • Observes safety regulations in duties performed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Desired Work Experience:

Up to 3 years preferred.

Education/Experience:

Basic knowledge of automotive parts and systems, mechanical skills, and technical training or experience.

Certificates and Licenses:

Eligible for NAPA training, manufacturer training, and state inspection/emissions training, if applicable.

Computer Skills:

Basic skills for timekeeping and inventory systems.

Communication Skills:

Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with customers and staff.

Attendance Expectations:

Regular, predictable attendance required, including possible evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, perform physical tasks in various positions, and operate tools safely.

Verbal and Writing Ability:

Ability to understand instructions and communicate effectively.

Math and Reasoning Abilities:

Basic math skills; ability to follow instructions and understand manuals.
