Position: Apprentice Technician I

Department/Role Type: Service, Full-Time

Reports to: Operations Manager

Location: Remote (100% travel, plus periodic-frequent overnight stays)

Our Apprentice Technician Level 1 must be organized, an effective communicator (both written & oral), and willing to learn to support calibration/instrumentation and preventative maintenance. This role will work under the guidance of our Training & Technical Manager and collaborate with internal teams.

Responsibilities include:

1. Providing calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair under supervision.
2. Supporting all equipment serviced by the company, including gravimetric, volumetric, pressure, temperature, electrical measuring devices, HEPA-filtered devices, Biological Safety Cabinets, Clean Benches, Chemical Fume Hoods, and Cleanrooms.
3. Providing additional support services as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED minimum.
• No prior experience or training in calibration and instrumentation required.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Interest in electronics and electrical systems.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Competencies:

• Willingness to use various modes of transportation, including air travel.
• Ability to drive extensively within LA/TX to customer sites.
• Technical and mechanical aptitude.
• Skills in problem-solving, customer service, cost consciousness, organizational support, adaptability, and dependability.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Standing, walking, sitting, and manual dexterity required.
• Occasional climbing, bending, kneeling, or crawling.
• Frequent talking, hearing, visual acuity for operating equipment and reading.
• Ability to lift/carry weights between 6-50 lbs., occasionally over 25 lbs. overhead.
• Push/pull equipment up to 200 lbs. with assistance.
• Extended overhead work may be required.
• Work around fumes, airborne particles, and exposure to infectious materials with proper PPE.
• Work environment varies from quiet to moderately loud.
