Job summary

HOLT CAT is seeking an Apprentice Shop Service Technician for its Texas First Rentals operation in Fate, TX. You will learn and assist under the Shop Service Supervisor, performing maintenance and basic repairs on rental fleet and equipment.

  • Attend required classroom instructions by Pro-Tech and HDSI classes.
  • Maintain safety training and procedures.
  • Receive coaching, mentoring, and feedback from service leadership.
  • Require regular and punctual attendance.
  • Work safely and adhere to all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Apprentice Shop Service Technician will assist the Shop Service Supervisor through on-the-job training (OJT) while learning and developing as a technician.

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources;3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions
  • Assists in performing maintenance and repair of rental fleet
  • Assists with installation, repairs, maintenance, and replacement of mechanical and electrical components
  • Examines and test equipment, components, and parts to ensure proper functioning
  • Adjusts, connects, or disconnect wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts
  • Attends required classroom instructions by Pro-Tech and HDSI classes
  • Maintains safety training and procedures
  • Receives coaching, mentoring, and feedback from service leadership

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Travel:

  • Very limited travel and overnight stays are expected for this position

Physical Requirements:

  • Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment
  • Routinely moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds
  • Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
  • Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down ladders
  • Be able to safely maneuver and work around equipment
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work

Work Environment:

  • Regularly works indoors and outdoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
  • Uses of hand and power tools to complete tasks
  • Noise level may be loud at times and may be exposed to whole body vibration
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment
  • May spend time in stationary, confined, and high places
