Job summary

Comfort Systems USA Shoffner offers an Apprentice program combining classroom learning and on-the-job training in commercial HVAC. You’ll gain hands-on skills and complete NCCER coursework, with credits potentially transferable. Veterans are encouraged to apply and GI Bill sponsorship is available.

You’ll work outdoors in varied environments, learn layout, duct installation, safety, and use of power & hand tools while earning benefits and a structured career path.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Experience using hand tools and a tape measure is a plus.

• Unload, move, and handle commercial-scale duct work.

• Learn to use a variety of power & hand tools.
• Complete classes, online work, and at-home study with skills and textbook learning.

Job Overview

An Apprentice is becoming a skilled professional with both classroom learning and on-the-job training. You gain everything you need for career success. You’ll create with your hands, working outdoors in different environments, and tell your family and friends “I helped build that”. (Do you have Apprentice credits from somewhere else? They might transfer to our certified NCCER program.) Military Veterans are encouraged to apply! Our Apprentice school qualifies for the GI Bill!

Main Tasks

Experience or Certification Needed

• A High School diploma or GED is required.
• Experience using hand tools and tape measure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Keep it a Drug-free Workplace.
• Be punctual and reliable.
• Work as a team.
• Do Basic “Tape measure math”.
• Work in extremes of heat, cold and bad weather, indoors and outdoors.
• Stand and walk throughout the workday, and lift/carry up to 60 lbs.
• Work efficiently in confined spaces.
• Work reaching above shoulders, crawling, squatting, kneeling, bending.
• Exercise fine motor control, with good vision and excellent hand-eye coordination.
