Job summary

MIO Partners, Inc. is seeking an Apprenticeship-Portfolio Manager (APM) to assist the CIO and PMs in evaluating hedge fund investments and quantitative strategies.

The role focuses on sourcing opportunities, assessing manager alpha, and supporting internal macro research to optimize portfolio construction. The selected candidate will work within a team that emphasizes rigorous research, data-driven decision making, and collaboration across investment processes.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of experience in quantitative / systematic investment management.
• Desire to work in a values-oriented environment focused on maximizing returns for our investors.
• Mastery of the quant toolkit (statistical modeling, derivatives pricing, risk modeling, numerical methods)
• Proficiency with AI tools, including Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, and agentic workflows; proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint also required
• Superior written and verbal communication skills; able to interact with top hedge fund managers

Responsibilities

• Support CIO and PMs in managing a book of external hedge fund investments and generate alpha.
• Source new manager opportunities and provide evidence-based hiring recommendations.
• Monitor managers with regular discussions and thorough documentation of insights and objectives.
• Help build and refine manager assessment frameworks and forecasts of alpha generation.
• Contribute to internal macro trading research and analytics across quantitative strategies
