  • Perform secretary duties and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Report life-threatening rhythms immediately to RN.

Job Requirements

Position Summary

Performs tasks related to the monitoring of heart rates and rhythms.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently

License/Registration/Certifications (acquired during apprenticeship program)

  • BLS
  • Certificate for successful completion of the arrhythmia course

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Complete Monitor Tech apprenticeship program training, including hospital orientation, arrhythmia course, and EPIC training
  • Perform skills assessment and validation during orientation shifts
  • Attend nurse leader rounding sessions to assess progress
  • Perform secretary duties, including phone skills, faxing, and printing
  • Maintain basic computer skills and respond to Code Alert appropriately
  • Identify areas for improvement and seek self-development
  • Participate in continuing education as assigned
  • Report risk management concerns and adhere to chain of command
  • Serve as an information resource for staff
  • Maintain continuous visual checks on monitors and document rhythms regularly
  • Ensure alarms are always active and report mechanical issues
  • Report life-threatening rhythms immediately and notify RN of procedural changes
  • Clean individual telemetry units after each use
  • Admit and discharge patients promptly from the system
  • Properly dispose of completed flow sheets and patient records
  • Maintain adequate monitoring equipment supplies
  • Review rhythm strips and patient condition with nurses timely
  • Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA
  • Perform other duties as assigned
