Job summary

KIHOMAC, Inc. is seeking a machining technician to assist in all phases of part machining and water jet operations at our Layton, UT facility. Responsibilities include reviewing technical data, identifying tooling needs, and supporting engineering teams with documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in management or technical/scientific discipline preferred.
• 1+ years of professional experience in the required task area.

Responsibilities

• Review technical data for completeness and accuracy.
• Identify tooling, jig, and fixture needs; review designs.
• Implement CNC programs.
• Set up machinery and perform rough and finish machining.
• Identify machine tool requirements.
• Support scheduling and data gathering for reports and drawings.
• Assist with department administrative duties.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Assist in all phases of part machining and water jet operations including:
• Review of part/component/system technical data for completeness and accuracy
• Identification of tooling, jig, and fixture requirements & support/input/review of engineering designs
• CNC file implementation
• Set-up
• Rough and finish machining
• Identify machine tool requirements
• Provide support to either Project Manager or mid-level/junior Engineering/Science personnel in the areas of scheduling, data gathering/limited analyses preparation of technical/project reports, test reports, drawings, specifications and associated documentation
• Assist with department administrative duties as necessary to learn about the work being performed, and to contribute to completion of department workload
• Other duties as assigned

Education/Training

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Associate’s Degree in management or technical/scientific discipline preferred

Experience

• 1+ years of professional experience in the required task area

Security

• Must be a US citizen
• Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required

Physical Requirements

• Able to assess, install, and modify equipment, and inspect machinery
• Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, grasp and reach with hands and arms, handle and operate hand/power tools and machine controls
• Perform frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements
• Prolonged periods of standing while operating machinery
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear (e.g., eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, etc.) for the assigned task
• Able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time
