Job description

United Cooperative Services has an open position for an Apprentice Lineman I in our Cleburne Operations Department.

Candidate should have a stable, verifiable work history, with an acceptable MVR and Class A CDL. A pre-employment drug and alcohol screen is required. This is a career job with progressive pay and an outstanding benefit package. This non-exempt position starts at $26.56 per hour.

This position has a 30-minute response time requirement to the Cleburne facility.

The Apprentice Lineman I is responsible for acquiring the skills and knowledge necessary to perform activities related to the construction, maintenance, and operation of overhead and URD distribution lines under the supervision of qualified personnel.

Major Responsibilities
  • Active training in line work, focusing on line construction and service.
  • Demonstrate ability to work safely on a pole.
  • Perform duties related to operation and maintenance of distribution lines, including grounding, stringing conductors, and installing equipment on de-energized structures.
  • Participate in safety training, including first aid and use of safety equipment.
  • Learn electrical theory, reading staking sheets, and meter reading.
  • Assist with right-of-way clearing, inventory, and customer inquiries.
  • Maintain safety and operational standards, and ensure proper use of equipment.
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of safety rules, RUS specifications, and policies.
  • Ability to learn CPR, operate construction equipment, and perform mathematical calculations.
  • Physical ability to climb, stand, lift up to 100 pounds, and work at heights.
  • Valid Class A CDL Texas driver license.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and work in various weather conditions.
