Job summary

City of West Point, Georgia is seeking a skilled lineworker to participate in the repair and maintenance of city power lines. The work is outdoors in potentially extreme weather and involves lifting up to 50 lbs overhead, installing and repairing single-, two-, and three-phase conductors, and installing streetlights.

You will operate a line truck, bucket truck, and wire pulling rig, respond to outages and emergencies, and be part of a team that ensures reliable power for residents.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • CDL Class A license required; must acquire CDL beginners permit within 60 days and obtain Class A CDL within 6 months of start date.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain ITS certifications.
  • Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for participating in the repair and maintenance of city power lines. Work sites are outdoors inpotentially extreme weather conditions. Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs).Install and repair single-, two-, and three phase conductors. Installs streetlights, responds to calls for service related to poweroutages, accidents, fires, and weather. Operates line truck, bucket truck, and wire pulling rig.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Skilled in the operation on breakers, regulators, and substation switches
  • Skilled in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical lines, transformers, and meters
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • CDL Class A license is required; must acquire CDL beginners permit within 60 days and obtain Class ACDL within 6 months of start date to be considered for full time employment
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain ITS certifications
  • Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screenApplications will be accepted through August 24, 2026.

Salary Range: $40,351.47 - $54,307.76
