Job summary

Randolph EMC in Asheboro, NC is seeking an Apprentice Lineman to join our team. This eight-step training program combines hands-on fieldwork with classroom instruction to develop the skills and certifications needed to become a Lineman.

You will work on overhead and underground distribution systems, learn to operate aerial bucket trucks and heavy equipment, and gain experience in safety-focused, customer-focused utility operations within a cooperative community.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and participate in structured on-the-job and classroom training.
  • Valid North Carolina CDL or ability to obtain one.
  • Strong teamwork ethic, attention to safety, and commitment to providing outstanding service.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions and at varying heights.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the construction, operation, and maintenance of overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
  • Install and connect transformers, regulators, reclosers, and other equipment.
  • Operate aerial bucket trucks and heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform linework on both secondary and primary voltages under supervision.
  • Trim trees, disconnect/reconnect electric services, and respond to member needs with professionalism.
  • Train in and demonstrate emergency response skills, including pole-top rescue.

Are you ready to build a career that powers communities and supports reliable electric service across 5 counties in the central part of North Carolina? Randolph EMC is currently seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Apprentice Lineman to join our Asheboro location.

As an Apprentice Lineman, you will be part of an eight-step training program that provides hands-on experience and classroom instruction, equipping you with the skills and certifications needed to become a Lineman.
