Job summary

Benchmark in Tempe, AZ seeks an Apprentice I for entry-level work in precision machining and PCB manufacturing. You will gain hands-on experience in machining, hand finishing, inspection, and manufacturing processes under experienced supervision.

The role is part-time with a 0600-1600 shift on Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri. You will enroll in machining or manufacturing trade programs and may advance to Operator or Machinist roles as you develop skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Interest in manufacturing, machining, or engineering.
• Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in a machining, CNC, or manufacturing trade program.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to use hand tools and learn technical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Reads and follows assembly prints, work instructions, drawings and specifications used in the manufacture of PCBs and/or systems.
• May be certified to operate a limited number and variety of basic machines in production.
• Responds to written and verbal instructions.
• Obtains certifications on assigned equipment.
• Maintains a clean work environment and follows safety and material handling policies.
• Uses cross-reference tools to identify part numbers, descriptions, and vendor data; recognizes part markings (speed/values).
• Assists with line changeover.
• Identifies feeder size/type in SMT equipment.
• Demonstrates cross-reference tools to identify part numbers, descriptions, and vendors.
• Removes hazardous waste at end of shift and stores properly.
