Job summary

LONG Building Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Apprentice HVAC Controls Technician to support customers by helping to program temperature control systems based on project specifications in Renton, WA. You will assist other Technicians with installation, warranty, emergency, and maintenance service on installed systems.

The role requires basic programming skills and knowledge of HVAC/building automation; on-site work and potential for professional development through the ASP program are available.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills for solving software and integration challenges.
• Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
• Some knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation, and electrical systems.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and take responsibility.
• Customer service and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with programming databases for systems per operation sequences and manufacturer recommendations.
• Support calibration and check-out of control systems and commissioning.
• Assist with graphical user interfaces for projects per LONG standards.
• Update drawings and maintain equipment records for as-built docs.
• Enroll in and stay current in the ASP Building Automation Technician Program.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Purpose

As a LONG Apprentice Controls Technician, you will support customers by helping to program temperature control systems based on project specifications. Using your knowledge in the commercial HVAC industry, you will assist other Technicians in performing installation, warranty, emergency, and maintenance service on installed systems.

Pay Range

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour plus potential profit share.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with programing databases for all supported systems to meet specified sequences of operation and equipment manufacturers recommendations, in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents.
• Help control Technicians perform calibration and check-out of control systems and ensure that specified sequence of operations and commissioning obligations are met.
• Assist the graphics coordination and/or provide the labor and expertise for the preparation and delivery of graphical user interfaces when required for projects in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents.
• Help provide information to update drawings and keep records of equipment for as-built documentation (submit all redlined drafting to application engineers).
• Enroll in and stay current in the ASP Building Automation Technician Program.
• Other duties assigned.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges.
• Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
• Some working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
• Strong customer service and analytical skills.
• Ability to interact with all levels of personnel to include department managers, project managers, engineers, sales, and controls technicians.
• Task driven.
• Ability to legally drive a company vehicle.
• Aptitude for computer systems or mechanical systems.
• Basic programming and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Already enrolled in the ASP program.
• 1+ years of tech school.

Physical Requirements

• This work may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces.
• This position may require lifting to 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
• This position may require climbing ladders and the ability to function at heights.
