Job summary

Boyd CAT is seeking a mechanic's helper to work under the direct supervision of an experienced mechanic in maintenance, repairs and rebuilding of Caterpillar and allied equipment until qualified to work independently. Compensation: up to $27.45 per hour.

Location transitions from Nitro and/or Belle, WV training to a new Point Pleasant location full-time after build-out. Requires High School Diploma or equivalent, basic mechanical experience, and ability to read repair manuals; micrometer and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of mechanical experience preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend repair manuals.
• Ability to use micrometer and basic measuring tools.
• Overtime including weekends may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lifts parts and components up to 50 pounds while assisting mechanics.
• Performs mechanical functions under supervision to repair or rebuild components.
• Operates construction machinery to move equipment in/out of shop bays and to test.
• Uses material handling equipment as required.
• Learns to use test equipment and procedures to perform repairs safely.
• Keeps work area clean and orderly and follows safety rules.
• Represents the company professionally when interacting with staff and customers.
• Ensures accuracy of work orders by charging parts and labor to the correct segment.
• Capable of standing for long periods and working in tight spaces.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
