Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan in Morenci, Arizona, is hiring for an entry-level maintenance/operations role at our copper mining complex. You will learn and perform maintenance activities with minimal supervision, attend required trainings, and support journeymen in their tasks.

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

What You Will Do

• Responsible for learning and performing minor maintenance/operations activities independently, with minimal supervision, or support journeymen in their maintenance activities.
• Attend required classroom training sessions.
• Perform on-the-job training activities in appropriate discipline.
• Perform safe operation of maintenance mobile equipment such as forklifts, stinger trucks and overhead and mobile cranes.
• Perform work area and equipment safety inspections.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must pass the math qualifying test.
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.
• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $21.00 – $27.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
