Job summary

Advanced Electric Systems (AES) is seeking Apprentice Fiber Technicians to join our team and learn the fiber optic and electrical infrastructure trade. This traveling role offers on-the-job training under experienced Journeymen across North America.

You will gain hands-on experience in OPGW fiber work, splicing, testing, and documentation while developing technical skills and safety awareness on high-voltage projects.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn the fiber optic trade and develop into a skilled Fiber Technician.
• Ability to travel regularly, including overnight and extended assignments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with comfort using tools and equipment.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and procedures with care.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Learn and assist with OPGW fiber optic installation, splicing, testing and troubleshooting.
• Work with high-voltage transmission lines and related fiber components.
• Operate testing equipment and read fiber schematics and diagrams.
• Maintain accurate logs, splice records and test results.
• Travel regularly to project locations across North America as required.
