A worker who learns, according to written or oral contractual agreement, a recognized skilled craft or trade requiring four years of on-the-job training through job experience supplemented by related instructions, prior to being considered a qualified skilled worker. Provisions of apprenticeship agreement regularly include length of apprenticeship; a progressive scale of wages; work processes to be taught; and amount of instruction in subject related to the craft or trade, such as characteristics of materials used, estimating, and blueprint reading. Is actively pursuing successful completion of an apprenticeship program.

Install electrical systems on Excel Electric projects under the supervision of a licensed journeyman or master electrician by following instructions, set forth in contract documents and drawings, from a job foreman or crew leader. Advises job foreman of materials and tools needed. Responsible for implementation of Excel Electric policies in the field, including safety policy and company rules. Be on call for emergency customer service. Is actively pursuing successful completion of the Excel Electric apprenticeship program.

Duties

  • Executes Excel Electric projects in the field under supervision of a job foreman in accordance with code and per job foreman instructions.
    • Materials
      • Uses materials efficiently.
      • Anticipates needs of materials in advance and coordinates with job foreman.
    • Tools
      • Maintains a neat and orderly job site.
      • Ensures that the correct tool is used for each job.
      • Protects company property by taking the necessary precautions to prevent theft and damage of company property under their direct control.
    • Labor
      • Is dependable.
      • Accurately clocks in/out of time keeping system as instructed.
    • Working Conditions
      • Works easily and skillfully with hands.
      • Maintain physical strength and stamina.
      • Mental and visual attention is necessary to effectively complete work tasks.
      • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds and other objects and carry tools and equipment.
      • Reach for, handle, and grasp wires and hand tools. Coordinate the use of eyes, hands, and feet. Manipulate objects and materials.
      • Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, work at heights and work in small places for extended periods of time as required to perform duties.
      • Vision – ability to see details at close range and details at a distance (either manually or with correction) and distinguish colors.
      • Regularly lift and carry objects weighing up 50 lbs or more.
  • Is prepared to occasionally assist in response to emergency service calls during off hours.
  • Implements Excel Electric policies in the field including safety policy and company rules.
  • Enroll in Excel Electric apprenticeship program and completerelated training per terms of apprenticeship agreement.
  • Attend company meetings and be an advocate for company policies, including safety, procedures and operations.
