Apprentice Electrician (Construction)

Technicians inspect, maintain, and repair boats, utilizing diagnostic equipment to test, repair, and install vessels' mechanical, electrical, and water systems. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds.
  2. Utilize diagnostic equipment to test and repair electrical systems.
  3. Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove, and install vessel systems and components.
  4. Conduct thorough assessments prior to starting work, including estimating time and sourcing parts as needed.
  5. Possess overall knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing, and water systems.
  6. Utilize protocols such as NMEA 2000 on vessel operating systems.
  7. Assign parts and purchases to appropriate work orders.
  8. Must possess own tools.
  9. Availability to work overtime to meet deadlines.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

Follow SHM safety and environmental policies, complete required training, wear proper PPE, and report accidents or spills immediately.

Technical and Physical Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 2-5 years' experience preferred. Ability to ascend/descend ladders, work in confined spaces, lift 50 pounds, and possess basic boat handling skills.
