Job summary

Forge is a Newton, MA-based contractor offering a hands-on Electrical Apprentice role focused on heat pump systems. You will wire equipment, run circuits, and upgrade panels while working with licensed electricians to build real technical skill and progress toward a journeyman’s license.

You’ll travel to Metrowest and Eastern Massachusetts job sites daily, enjoy a steady full-time schedule, and participate in structured on-the-job training.

Job description

This is a focused, specialized role: you'll spend your days performing the electrical work behind residential heat pump systems — wiring equipment, running circuits, and completing panel and service upgrades to support installs. If you want deep, hands-on repetition in a high-demand, fast-growing corner of the electrical trade, this is built for you.

You'll work directly alongside licensed electricians and our installation crews, building real technical skill on every job while progressing toward your journeyman's license.

Compensation

$25–$35/hr, depending on years of, and related, experience.

What You Will Do

• Install, wire, and upgrade electrical components and systems supporting heat pump installations
• Support panel changes and service upgrades under the direction of a licensed electrician
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults under supervision
• Read and interpret electrical layouts, schematics, and equipment submittals
• Maintain compliance with electrical codes, OSHA regulations, and safety protocols
• Collaborate closely with licensed electricians, project coordinators, and operations managers
• Participate in structured on-the-job training to build toward journeyman licensure

Qualifications & Preferred Experience

• Actively working toward a Massachusetts Electrical Apprentice license through the Board of State Examiners of Electricians
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in electrical installation, troubleshooting, and repair. Those with experience related to heating and cooling systems with be prioritized.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical layouts, schematics, and equipment specifications
• Comfortable with focused, repetitive electrical work specific to heat pump systems
• Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to follow instructions and collaborate effectively on a crew
• Full-time availability, with flexibility for after-hours work when needed
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• Valid driver's license required
• Able to pass a background check and drug test (does not screen for marijuana)
• Physical requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; comfortable working in attics, basements, and crawlspaces; able to climb ladders and work in varying seasonal/outdoor conditions.

Logistics

• Service area: Metrowest and Eastern Massachusetts - you'll travel to job sites across this area daily.
• Schedule: Consistent, full-time work, year-round, Monday–Friday — no on-call or after-hours rotation. We're proud to offer a stable, reliable schedule you can build a life around.
• Tools & vehicle: Crew leads (Licensed Journeymen, or those who prove they can handle running jobs) receive a company van outfitted with tools. You should expect to use your own vehicle to travel to/from job sites daily. Having your own tools is great, but not required.
