Job Summary

Our Apprentice Cake Decorator plays a key role in ensuring our pastries are visually appealing and delicious. In addition to delivering exceptional guest service, you'll assist in creating beautiful cake designs and provide the sweets that will be the highlight of our guests' celebrations. Main duties include training in all aspects of the Bakery Department, including Clerk and Baker functions, with a focus on cake decorating for those with minimal or no retail decorating experience. To succeed, you should be a team player, eager to support your colleagues, and driven to develop leadership skills. Creativity, passion for food, and a desire to connect with people are essential. Job Description

• Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
• Education: No High School diploma required
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities

• Learn product knowledge and procedures, including product information by category, special orders, cake program, portion control, seasonal items, and color mixing.
• Follow proper procedures to meet out-of-stock goals.
• Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and impress guests.
• Prioritize safety in all tasks for team members, guests, and products.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests, assisting with product location, and answering questions.
• Familiarize with store products to make suggestions and answer customer inquiries.
• Handle products and equipment safely, adhering to food safety and safety guidelines.
• Use suggestive selling techniques to enhance sales.
• Prepare and decorate bakery products, rotate stock, and ensure freshness and proper dating.
• Provide sampling opportunities when appropriate.
• Record special orders accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, work areas, and storage spaces.
• Follow safety and sanitation protocols, including emergency procedures and proper lifting techniques.
• Assist with unloading deliveries and maintaining backroom efficiency.
• Follow department procedures, including product rotation and order taking.
• Support other areas of the bakery as needed.
