Our Apprentice Cake Decorator is a key player in ensuring our pastries look and taste amazing. In addition to providing exceptional guest service, you'll assist in creating beautiful and delicious cake art for our guests and provide sweets that are the highlight of their parties. Main duties include training in all aspects of the Bakery Department, including Clerk and Baker functions, with a focus on cake decorating for those with minimal or no retail decorating experience. To succeed, you should be a team player, eager to support your team, motivated to grow into leadership, and capable of inspiring others. Creativity, passion for food, and an interest in current trends are essential, as is a culinary vision that goes beyond basic cooking. Job Description

  • Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
  • Education Desired: No High School diploma required
  • Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
  • Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age


Job Responsibilities

  • Learn product knowledge and procedures, such as product information by category, special orders, cake programs, portion control, seasonal items, and color mixing.
  • Follow proper procedures to meet store out-of-stock percentage goals.
  • Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and impress guests.
  • Prioritize safety in all work aspects for team members, guests, and products.
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, helping locate products, answering questions, and making suggestions.
  • Become familiar with store products to assist customers effectively.
  • Handle products and equipment following food safety and safety guidelines to ensure a safe shopping environment.
  • Use suggestive selling techniques appropriately to enhance sales.
  • Prepare and decorate bakery products for display, rotating stock and following code dating to ensure freshness.
  • Offer sampling opportunities when appropriate.
  • Record special orders accurately to ensure customer satisfaction with finished products.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, work surfaces, and the entire department, including back room, coolers, and freezers.
  • Follow safety and sanitation standards, including proper lifting, emergency procedures, and housekeeping.
  • Assist with unloading deliveries and maintaining backroom and cold storage efficiency.
  • Follow department procedures, including daily setups, order taking, and product rotation.
  • Assist in other areas as needed.
